$4.6 B total for CCS demonstrations projects as follows:

1. $2 B – demonstration of at least one or more near zero emissions power plants designed to capture a high percent of CO2.

2. $1 B – CCPI Round III selections

In addition to money currently available for the solicitation DOE encouraged to extend new application deadline of 4/1/2009 for receipt of new or modified applications.

3. $1.52 B – demonstrations of industrial CCS demonstrations under §703 of EISA:

Efficiency improvements for integration with carbon capture technology

Preference to projects that capture and sequester (or put to beneficial use) 75% of CO2.

4. $50 M – Characterizing at least 10 sites for large-scale injection AND expanding the Carbon Sequestration Atlas.

In addition to minimum of 7 initial large-scale sequestration tests authorized under EISA §702.
